What Do BCCI Central Contracts Mean?
This contract system was introduced in 2004 to promote financial stability among cricket players by fixing a budget according to players’ performance. Different categories like A-, A+, B+, and C decide the pay range of the players put into each of these.
The elite A category is for the premium one. It includes core Indian team players. The other categories include rising stars and format specialists.
Annually, BCCI makes fair upgrades to this list by reviewing players’ performance and discussions with team members and selectors.
Revelation of 2024-25 BCCI Central Contracts for the men’s team.
On 21 April 2025, the 2024-25 was released and will be effective from September 1, 2024, to October 2025. It revealed the division of players into A, A+, B, and C. The amount set for the A+ category was 7 crore, while the price set for B players was set to be 5 crore. The lowest pricing range is set to be 1 crore. - The highest are the same as last year: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja.
- In the last session, players like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan couldn’t make the cut but have made it this year.
- Shreyas Iyer, a key batsman, has been associated with the B grade, and Ishan Kishan, a budding batsman and wicketkeeper, has been placed in Grade C.
- This year, Rishabh Pant got promoted to Grade A after being injured and making a comeback this season.
- The recently retired Ravichandran Ashwin has been removed from the contract list.
- Varun Chakaravarthy received a maiden Central Contract in response to his amazing performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
